Zipolite Beach Attracts International Tourism
(Zipolite, Oaxaca, 15 August) With the purpose of providing tourism information to visitors (both foreigners and those from elsewhere in Mexico), “information modules” have been installed at three strategic points in the municipality, including in Zipolite and Puerto Ángel, the two most visited beaches.
The modules are located at the cross roads of Mexico Highway 200 and Mexico Highway 175, in Zipolite and in Puerto Ángel. There, staff of the municipal Tourism Department will provide visitors with printed materials and verbal information about attractions, services and other places that will permit guests to enjoy their stay to the fullest.
The municipal Director of Tourism, Rigoberto Díaz Gómez, informs that this project will be accomplished through coordination between city employees and local service providers. In addition, special events will be planned for long weekends as well as summer and winter vacation seasons. Examples are beach soccer competitions, bikini contests, beach volleyball, and cultural festivals (involving music, dancing, arts, crafts, and food).
Díaz Gómez added that the municipality has put together a strong security program for the safety and comfort of the visitors, ensuring that they will complete their holidays “with a good taste in their mouth.”
As an additional measure, members of the Civil Protection Service have received training in first aid and water rescue, given by nationally-qualified lifeguards.
The initiative, which commenced in April of this year in time for Holy Week tourism, will continue indefinitely, according to the Tourism Director.
